KUED 7 - Salt Lake City

About KUED

KUED provides service to one of the largest geographic areas of any public television station in the country, reaching portions of five states, including all of Utah and parts of Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona. Our signal is carried through a transmitter on Mount Vision, 17 miles southwest of Salt Lake City, which covers the Salt Lake Valley and the Wasatch Front. The signal is extended statewide and to adjoining states by a network of 80 translators, cable and satellite services.

KUED is Utah's premiere public television station, broadcasting the entire PBS schedule. We also acquire other programs to best serve our viewers. KUED is not only the home to, but the creator of programs meeting the highest television standards. Through our locally produced documentaries and public affairs programs, we share Utah’s story and examine critical issues of importance to Utahns. We also provide educational programs and services to public schools and libraries, the University of Utah and other institutions of higher education. Each day between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., we broadcast an instructional television schedule for use in Utah's public schools.

KUED is more than the programs we air. Through our many community outreach projects, we are an active participant in the community, providing related activities, resources, and materials that go beyond broadcast to serve our community. Through the Internet we provide supplemental content and services. KUED also has a department that offers video and multimedia services to clients.

KUED-Channel 7 signed on the air January 9, 1958. The station is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission to the University of Utah.

KUED holds open advisory meetings.  The governing board is the University of Utah Board of Trustees. Learn more about the University of Utah Board of Trustees.

KUED also has a community advisory board, Friends of KUED, that meets bi-monthly. Learn more.
